New English School to Indi Pump Road Set for Expansion in Hubballi
Hubballi (Hubli Express News): On Saturday, MLA Prasad Abbayya, Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu, and HDMC Commissioner Ishwar Ullagaddi conducted an inspection of the road connecting New English School and Indi Pump Circle.
This main road, currently congested and narrow, frequently experiences traffic jams, causing daily commuting problems for residents. Even NWKRTC has limited bus services on this route due to the congestion.
MLA Abbayya stated, “This is a major road connecting two parts of the city, but its narrow width leads to congestion. It needs to be widened to alleviate traffic-related problems.”
Addressing concerns about encroachment on government property along this stretch, Abbayya instructed officials to conduct a joint survey involving the land records office and revenue department to identify and remove encroachments.
He emphasized the need to acquire additional land for road development alongside clearing encroachments. “If an action plan for road development is prepared promptly, I will ensure the release of necessary grants,” Abbayya assured.
Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu committed to holding a meeting with the HDMC Commissioner and concerned officials regarding this project.
Abbayya also announced plans to replace the bridge near New English School with a new one, estimated to cost Rs 12 crore. “The action plan for this project has been submitted to the government, and we expect the grants to be released soon,” he said.
Later, the MLA visited the 100-bed super-specialty hospital being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 14 crore in Old Hubballi. Noting that the hospital work is in its final stages, he instructed officials to clear the surrounding area to facilitate easy access for ambulances and relocate petty shops in the vicinity.
